Customer Orientation from the Beginning

At home in many Markets

What began over 70 years ago with the establishment of a trading house has developed through constant investment into a modern flexible middle sized production company in which customer orientation comes first. An almost continuous variety of coating and laminating processes facilitates the manufacture of numerous product variations for many different markets.

Transition from Trading House to Manufacturer

In the early years since the launch in 1937 at the current head office at Viersen-Süchteln as an oHG Messrs Willy Gehlen and Karl Kluth started KLUTH dealing in shoe materials and their vulcanisation. By degrees production was started and developed. Even then what was available to buy, was not good enough.

From the 50 years up to the present time capacity, the multiplicity of laminating and coating machines, the buildings and not least the customers and the number of markets supplied was constantly extended.

Continuity in Management

In 1957 the company changed its corporate form to Kommanditgesellschaft and from 1996 the firm became a GmbH & Co. KG. Following the death of Mr. Willy Gehlen his daughter, Mrs. Dipl.-Kfm. Doris Wahl-Gehlen stepped in 1973 as limited partner and lead the Company solely from the departure of the Kluth family in 1987. With Mr. Hanjo Vrancken the succession into the third generation is assured.
